This was not just ‘another investigation’

In recent days, we have witnessed one of the worst exercises in journalism with the scandal involving Kristi Noem and her husband, Byron Noem, where private life is exposed to damage someone in a low and personal way—whether for personal vendettas or to neutralize her politically.

A family that is perhaps going through its worst moment has been mortally wounded; a woman who has been publicly humiliated by a husband who did not respect her is being hurt, exposed, and ridiculed; and minor children, who are innocent of anything their parents may have done, are being harmed.

This was not just another investigation. This was clearly a way to directly attack Kristi Noem and the Trump administration. The disproportionate hatred that some manifest without any reason toward President Donald Trump leads to low, dishonest, and infamous actions like these from a media outlet known only for scandals and a terrible practice of journalism.

No less reproachful is the display of enjoyment and pleasure, especially from the media, influencers, and liberal voters, who feel an unhealthy satisfaction every time they cause harm.

Dear feminists, where were you? A woman was torn to pieces in the public eye by the ‘patriarchy.’ As per usual, you did nothing.

Psychology is clear regarding this type of human behavior: everything we say and do speaks only of us, not of others. The message some have sent with their behavior is clear and concerning.

Evil ends when we stop being accomplices; gossip ends when we stop listening to and sharing it. Misery ends when we decide not to give it a place.

The question is:

Will we continue to lose ourselves as a humanity, or will we one day reconsider?
